Pumpkin Ale

Ron | September 29, 2005

In what can only be an acknowledgement that microbreweries are having an effect on their bottom line, Anheuser-Busch has announced that it is introducing seasonal beers.

I’m still sticking with the little guys or brewing my own thank you very much.

More on Narnia

Ron |

For anyone interested in the talk I mentioned here that’s being hosted at Wheaton, but like me can’t go - The Matthew’s House Project is sponsoring a multi-city Narnia Tour. For those of you in the St. Louis area, Dr. Jerram Barrs who is the Resident Scholar at the Francis Schaeffer Institute of Covenant Seminary will be giving a presentation called Echoes of Eden in C.S Lewis’s The Lion Witch and the Wardrobe on October 14 at the Borders on Olive. I would imagine it’ll be well worth attending.

And by the way, if you haven’t checked out The Matthew’s House Project yet - you really should.

A father’s pride

Ron |

My wife just told me of a conversation she had with our 3 year old son in the van. Apparently, completely out of the blue on the way home from Target, Max pipes up from the back seat:

“Mommy? Why does God tell us to obey our mommy and daddy?”

My son, already asking the tough questions.

Halloween: A Discernment Exercise

Ron |

Interesting article from the Ransom Fellowship archives disputing the supposed pagan origins of Halloween as well as other Christian holidays. A lot of it was new to me.

Giant Squid
Giant Squid

This is one of those somewhat odd interests of mine. I’ve been pretty fascinated with the whales and giant squids for years. The giant squid is especially intriquing because scientists knew virtually nothing about them. They had never been observed alive, everything known about them was from dead squid that had washed up on shore, or was the stuff of legend. Now some Japanese scientists have actually been able to film one 900 ft. below the surface!

Broken Flowers

Ron | September 27, 2005

Broken Flowers is the latest Jim Jarmusch movie and has Bill Murray in another dramatic role. I’ve been interested in seeing this and now, after reading Ben Witherington’s review, I’m pretty sure I’d enjoy this one.

It looks like CT gives it a pretty good review as well.
