Resolved
Ron | January 4, 2006I’m always reluctant to make New Year resolutions. Call it my native pessimism that doesn’t believe I’ll keep to it anyway, so why bother. This year however, I’m going to try to overcome that pessimism. And so in that vein here goes, in no particular order:
- Read 1 book each month. I was once an avid reader and was rarely seen without a book in hand. For the past several years though my tendency is to start and not finish books and/or fall asleep within the first couple of sentences. I think a book a month is a legitimate goal that I can actually accomplish. Keep an eye on the side bar to the right to see how I’m doing.
- Post less and better. I’ve been posting out here for a year now and gone through various posting flurries. I enjoy this, but my purpose in starting the blog was to actually encourage myself to write, not just regurgitate a bunch of links. My goal is to post once per week. Hopefully this will also help me to avoid the compulsion I have to have about 25 Firefox tabs open looking for random but interesting stuff. I think I’m seeking distraction rather than content and, quite frankly, I have enough going on in my life that I don’t really need to add a lot of distractions to it.
- Make another attempt at wrangling the perpetual chaos my life is in into at least a semi-organized plan so I don’t lose track of little things like, oh I don’t know:
- Finances
- Appointments
- Tasks
- Repair needs around the house
- etc.
- Clean off my desk at work and keep it cleaned (see #3 above)
- Go to at least 1 Cardinals game this year.
