Slowing Down

Ron | March 31, 2006

So, I guess the question is, “what the heck has been going on”? Every year I have about 4 to 5 months of insanity at my job. During that time I have a hard enough time taking care of my family and paying the bills, much less write anything. That is, thankfully, now beginning to come to an end. Hopefully that means that there will be some slightly more substantial updates on the way.

There have been some significant happenings over the past few months that I’m looking forward to writing about. Musings and thoughts have come and gone, but there are some themes that seem to be sticking around, among them my ever-present struggles with what it looks like to be a Christian in this post-modern, post-everything world.

In the meantime, for those who enjoy listening to good sermons, I’ve been listening to Mark Driscoll quite a bit lately and highly recommend him. Particularly if you live in an urban area. My own little corner church, Old Orchard PCA, is also now jumping into the world of podcasts. Definitely worth checking out as I believe Ron Lutjens, the pastor, is one of the truly great teaching pastors I have had the pleasure of listening to. If you want to subscribe through iTunes just go to the music store and under Podcasts do a search for Old Orchard Church.

lib.rario.us

Ron | March 2, 2006

Interesting… will lib.rario.us give LibraryThing a run? lib.rario.us allows you to catalog all of your media - the only problem is the stupid name. I’m already sick of the del.icio.us knock-offs. Just because your doing the whole community tagging thing doesn’t mean you have to have stupid naming conventions.

Who Am I?

My name is Ron Nelson. I am a husband to a wonderful wife and a father to 3 amazing children. I am a follower of Jesus. I am a member of a wonderfully flawed, redeemed, struggling, beautiful, faithful community of believers that has often supported and encouraged me in my attempts to be a good husband, father and follower of Jesus.
