Springtime in Missouri

Ron | March 21, 2008

Finally spring is truly under way here in the middle of the country. Daffodils are blooming, the grass (or in the case of my front yard - moss) is getting green again and the flood waters are raging. Roads are closed all over the St. Louis area today as the Meramac river continues to rise creating lakes where parks and fields were at the beginning of this week. I am truly thankful that our house is nowhere near the effected areas, but my heart goes out to all those who have watched as their homes are essentially destroyed.
Pray for those families across the midwest who have been displaced, and who can only watch as the place they have called home is covered by water.

Charlotte Mason School in St. Louis

Ron | March 20, 2008

For anyone who lives or is moving to the St. Louis area with young children and is interested in a school which follows a Charlotte Mason education philosophy, please check out South City Community School! They are in the spring semester of their first year being open. My 5 year old has been going there this year for kindergarten and we have been absolutely blown away by the teachers and the environment that has been fostered. If anyone reading this has any questions or wants more information, I’d be happy to gush openly about how great this school has been, but their new site does have a lot of information as well. In all honesty, after many years of reading educational philosophy, home schooling our daughter, thinking about the nature of learning, etc., this has been the best educational environment I’ve seen. I am truly an advocate for this school.

Who Am I?

My name is Ron Nelson. I am a husband to a wonderful wife and a father to 3 amazing children. I am a follower of Jesus. I am a member of a wonderfully flawed, redeemed, struggling, beautiful, faithful community of believers that has often supported and encouraged me in my attempts to be a good husband, father and follower of Jesus.
