Dimly Lit

This is very good news. I can remember being absolutely shocked to learn how much food is wasted on a daily basis by Wal-Mart’s decision to throw away perfectly good food rather than donate it to food pantries. Now, with food prices going up significantly and the economy slowing down significantly there is more need than ever for companies like Wal-Mart to step up to the plate.

Kudos Wal-Mart, Sam would be proud.

Looks like philosophy is where it’s at! All the cool kids are doing it now…

According to this article in the New York Times, lots of college students are now navel gazing. I love this quote - it is very much what my friends and I used to tell each other while justifying our choice of majors:

“If I were to start again as an undergraduate, I would major in
philosophy,” said Matthew Goldstein, the CUNY chancellor, who majored
in mathematics and statistics. “I think that subject is really at the
core of just about everything we do. If you study humanities or
political systems or sciences in general, philosophy is really the
mother ship from which all of these disciplines grow.”

Oddly enough, I finally post a couple of times and one of those posts seems to have attracted a lengthy screed comment about… something. I’m really not sure what the heck it’s all about because I can’t bring myself to read the whole thing.

The problem is that, for some reason, Blogger is not letting me delete any comments. So there it sits, ranting and rambling about who knows what and I can’t do anything about it. Just another reason for me to move to Wordpress. If I really am going to start posting again regularly like I said I was going to do… 4 months ago.

Look for an announcement on a move to a new domain soon. The only question I have left is whether to use the free Wordpress.com, or go all out with my own domain.
