A Wonderful Reminder about Voting
Ron | October 22, 2008John Piper has a terrific post at the Desiring God site regarding Christians and voting. It is easy to get caught up in the present and momentary in all areas of life and politics is no different. Piper’s exhortation is to follow the same principles set out in 1 Corinthians 7:29-31 in the area of voting:
The appointed time has grown very short. From now on, let those who
have wives live as though they had none, and those who mourn as though
they were not mourning, and those who rejoice as though they were not
rejoicing, and those who buy as though they had no goods, and those who
deal with the world as though they had no dealings with it. For the
present form of this world is passing away. (1 Corinthians 7:29-31)
In others words, by all means do it, but only as if you’re not doing it. Confused? Read all of Piper’s post, it is an excellent reminder.
